Renovating a bathroom can feel overwhelming, especially when it’s old and outdated. But with determination and a sprinkle of creativity, my husband and I turned our worn-out up stairs bathroom of our new home into a fresh, modern room in just two days! Inspired by the colors of the ocean, we infused shades of green, dark gray and white into our design choices. Let’s dive into the details of our exciting renovation journey!

Planning the Renovation
Before we even picked up a paintbrush, we spent time visualizing our ideal bathroom. Our goal was to brighten up the space and create an airy feeling. Clear ocean colors cool green paired with bright whites guided our choices. I am usually the designer and painter and he is the carpenter and plumber as we both manage projects together. We work as a great team together and better yet we work together everyday in our business so yes, we are very use to working together and complement each others work.
We made a thorough list of everything to replace, including the toilet, sink, flooring, fixtures and finishing touches like towels and decor. Excited for our shopping adventure , we chose Lowe’s as our go-to store for everything we needed.
Choosing the Right Supplies
On shopping day, we arrived at Lowe’s with our detailed list. After browsing, we settled on key items that would set the tone for our ocean-themed bathroom.
For flooring, we opted for Stainmaster vinyl waterproof flooring in Glacier Marble. This cool, light option reminded us of the ocean while offering style and practicality. Marble floors are related to the ocean because marble originates from marine organisms. Neat isn't it, I just learned that myself. The vinyl waterproof was a go-to since we were dealing with a bathroom.
Next, we selected a 36-inch Goslin Vanity in storm gray. Its sleek, modern design featured self-closing cabinets and drawers, providing ample storage that contrasted beautifully with our color palette. For the top we went with a 37-inch Dolomiti Bianco Top with a marble finish. The fresh white surface with subtle veining added an elegant touch, perfectly tying our theme together.
Lastly, we chose a paint called sea salt. We made sure to go with eggshell finish by Sherwin Williams. This was a very light green color that contrasted excellently with our choices and made the area bright and airy.
Demo Day: Out with the Old
On day one, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Our first task was removing the old fixtures and flooring. Disconnecting the toilet and sink was easier than expected because I have to give it to him, my husband is a jack of all trades. He can do anything and if he can't he will find a way. That saves us lots in the long run.

Once the old pieces were gone, the room felt significantly larger without the bulky features. Dust filled the air, but our excitement kept us motivated. We took it slow, ensuring we avoided any mishaps during the process.

The Before Pictures

Installing New Fixtures
With the old materials cleared, we started with the painting and then the new flooring installation. Stainmaster vinyl flooring was easy to install; the planks clicked together nicely. As we laid the flooring, we admired how the Glacier Marble pattern instantly brightened the room.
Next, we tackled the vanity. The sleek black Goslin Vanity fit perfectly in our
space. We took care to connect the plumbing securely before placing the beautiful Dolomiti Bianco Top on the vanity. The added elegance was unmistakable!

Final Touches: Completing the Transformation

On the second day, we focused on the finishing touches. We reconnected the new toilet and sink, holding our breath as we flushed the toilet and turned on the faucet—everything worked perfectly!

To match our ocean theme, we painted the walls a soft, green color called sea salt. This color choice added depth and beautifully complemented the newly installed features. Fresh towels, new moen towel holders along with moen fixtures for the tub and sink, also shown is a matching shower curtain, and a few ocean-inspired decorations completed the look. If I choose I can simply replace the photo with another of our choice and change up the vibe.

The Reveal
At long last, the moment arrived to unveil our newly transformed bathroom. Standing side by side, we marveled at the space we created in such a short time. The mix of colors, fixtures, and decor came together beautifully, making it feel like an inviting bathroom.
This transformation was not just about aesthetics; it breathed new life into a space we use every day. We felt immense pride in completing the renovation ourselves, which reinforced the joy of collaborating on a project that reimagined our home.
